As India celebrates 70th Independence Day, i would like to share my thoughts about the present day celebrations, and throw light on the sacrifices made by our countrymen and how we still are fighting for freedom.
The idea of Independence Day in India for working people means Holiday ,while for the non working means at least 10 hours of sleep, kite flying, hanging out with friends and family, uploading pictures and status on social networking or probably just sending wishes to each other over a text. I wonder how easily we’ve taken our hard earned freedom, for granted. We do not even have time to genuinly remember our freedom struggle and then feel proud about it, and not just say we’re proud for the sake of telling people. Infact ironically, lot of people still do not know about our freedom struggle. Whom should we blame for such ignorance towards the nationalist struggle that our great leaders sacrificed their lives for? Our schools? Parents? Or our inclination towards westernisation which we mistake it for modernisation?
Our great leaders who devoted their heart and soul for the freedom and unity for our country, who dreamt of a BHARAT where the young blood would fight for freedom from poverty; casteism; social, economic as well as political biasness; for women empowerment; for the deprived sections of our society, would be disheartened to see the harsh reality of our country’s youth who can not even think about other person selflessly and turn a blind eye towards the problems of our country and instead focus on taking wrong advantage of the facilities meant for the needy.
Why can’t we make ourselves a part of our country’s development by trusting our true potential and help each other in challenging situations?
Why do we need reservations if we have the potential to achieve our goals? Instead why don’t we enlighten those about such laws, policies and programmes of the government, who need it the most?
Why don’t we educate ourselves and other people, and most importantly those people who want to achieve better things in life but don’t have resources for the same? Why can’t we make a life brighter and thank ourselves later for making someone free from the shackles of poverty and illiteracy?
We’ve been constantly running in our lives, why can’t we just stop for sometime and think for someone else?
On our 70th Independence Day, Let’s contribute to our country by making our “India” free from evil, biasness, poverty, illiteracy, and help each other in taking our country to great heights! JAI HIND 🇮🇳
